History of PET bottles
PET bottle (plastic bottle) is a bottle that was first used in 1978 for Coca-Cola. It is currently one of the most commonly used beverage containers – it is used to store standard beverages and even beer and wine. Plastic bottles come in different shapes and sizes (from 0.25 to 5 liters).
About PET
The well-known abbreviation PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate, currently the most important thermoplastic polyester.
Nearly 80% of all polyethylene terephthalates are used in the form of PET bottles, as it is an excellent packaging material - particularly suitable for storing beverages, detergents, and cosmetic products. This is a worldwide trend. In the Czech Republic alone, about 60,000 tons of various PET bottles are used.
